Breakway
Flexible Respite for Carers - Providing you with a break from your caring role
Do you care for a young person aged 12 – 16 years, who is affected by Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus?
Would you like time to take up a hobby, spend time with friends or just relax?
If so, the Breakaway Project could be for you …
The Breakaway Project aims to provide an opportunity for carers to have a break from their caring role.
This service will enable you to participate in your community by accessing social and recreational activities. This could be anything from meeting friends to joining a new club, the choice is yours.
At the same time, the young person you care for will also have the opportunity to receive support to participate in a range of activities within the home or local community.
Benefits to Carer:
· Carers get a break from their caring role
· Carers have opportunities to develop hobbies and interests
· Carers have opportunities to socialise and feel less isolated
Benefits to Young People:
· Young people have a break from their carers
· Young people have a designated worker to support them in the home and local community
· Young people have the opportunity to increase their independence
Could this service benefit you or the person you care for?
