Community Fundraising

The SSBA is always in need of vital support and fundraising from any generous individuals, groups, clubs or businesses. As we are only funded through donations community support is at the heart of the association.

While we appreciate every donation we also understand that not everyone can afford to donate money to charities, so our 'Give A Little' appeal offers an alternative.

The Give A Little appeal asks supporters to donate their time, knowledge and experience to help us reach our annual fundraising goal of £1 million. The money raised helps us to provide support and information to over 3,500 people in Scotland affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus.

Why not try volunteering with the association?

We want our volunteers to enjoy their time volunteering for the Association, so let us know what you are interested in. That way if you ever have a couple of hours to spare we'll know we can get you involved with something you'll really enjoy!

We're currently looking for all sorts of skills, talents and levels of experience so why not head over to our volunteers page to find out more info.

Fancy being a Community Ambassador?

We are looking for volunteers across Scotland to attend cheque presentations or give talks on our behalf. Training will be provided and achievements like this look great on your CV! Alternatively you can manage our counter collection boxes in your local postcode area, it's simple! We will place the counter boxes in local shops and as a Community Ambassador all you need to do is empty them every few months when we contact you and bank the income directly in your local branch.

Even if you know of the perfect venue or location to hold a can collection in your local community let us know and we'll contact them in your behalf!

Our volunteers page has more info on becoming a Community Ambassador!

Does your place of work make donations to charities on an annual basis?

Would they consider choosing the Association as one of the beneficiaries or even make us a nominated charity? If the answer is yes then please nominate the Scottish Spina Bifida Associaiton.

Every year thousands of pounds are raised by companies and donated to charities via raffles, party nights, dress down days and sponsored activies. The SSBA Fundraising Team are available to offer any support that a company may require.

More info available on our Nominated Charity page

Why not do something good for the community?

Organising your very own event or starting your own fundraising group can let you unleash your creativity while having lots of fun in your local community and raising vital funds for the SSBA. You could try holding a coffee morning or bake sale, asking friends and family to form a fundraising group and run a host of events in your local area; your events would even end up being advertised through our website page and social media!
