Continence Clinic

The Continence Clinic service is run by a Continence Nurse from the Scottish Spina Bifida Association premises at The Dan Young Building in Cumbernauld.

The idea to start our own clinic was in response to some of the feedback we had from our adult service users who regularly attend the Centre for health checks. Lisa Henderson , our Senior Specialist Nurse says, “Lots of our service users are struggling with continence issues and I am able to report this to their GPs who would then make a referral to a continence nurse in the community. This can take a while in some areas and we are delighted that we can now offer 6 appointments per month to our service users.”

Service users can now have a full continence assessment and the Continence Nurse will provide support and advice on bladder and bowel management.

The SSBA is very grateful to Coloplast who are funding the Continence Nurse post for 12 months.

Referrals to the new Continence Clinic come through the Healthy Living Project but any service user who is not involved with the project, and who would like an appointment, should contact by email or call her on 01236 794500.
