Dragon's Dare

The Dragon's Dare challenge was taken on by teams across Scotland in 2013 and in total has raised over £25,000. The SSBA is incredibly grateful to all teams involved for giving up their time and talent.
The inaugural Dragon's Dare challenge culminated with each team having a meeting with patron Duncan Bannatyne in the boardroom at the SSBA family support centre in Cumbernauld. Prior to this, a "den style" judging session took place in Glasgow with leading Scottish entrepreneurs John Pirrie (partner in Nevis Capital LLP), Michelle Rodger (crowdfunding champion and MD of communications company TartanCat) and SSBA chair Margo Whiteford in the Clydesdale Bank HQ in Glasgow. A closely fought contest over a six month period, the winning team finally emerged as Turtle Tots.

Raising over £8,000, Gill Currie and Kirsty McNiece expanded their existing baby and toddler swimming franchises to Aberdeen. In a six-month launch period, Turtle Tots donated every penny earned from the new business. For more information please contact Gill Currie on 0775 3807188 or visit www.turtletots.com

Director Aileen Stevenson and Marketing Manager Lisa Parker of the Cook School Scotland undertook the ambitious project of producing a book - A Taste of The Cook School Scotland, packed full of The Cook School Scotland's best loved recipes, from delicious classics to modern recipes from around the world. Selling the book the length and breadth of the country at cookery events, a family fun day and fairs the team raised a staggering £7,000 selling over 1,400 books

The Dragonsdare.co.uk team from Aberdeen was led by Chris Tonner, an award winning chef, entrepreneur and founder of Beetroot Restaurants Ltd and supported by deputy Adrian Gomes, owner of 10 Dollar Shake and the Tippling House. The team held upmarket culinary events, raising £3,000 for the challenge.

MimosaLIFE, a lifestyle brand based in Glasgow hosted a series of events in Glasgow and London in order to raise awareness and funds for the SSBA, and promoted the launch of their very own fashion label, Xcelsior. They raised £2,000 and are continuing to raise funds for the SSBA.
