Standing on the sidelines has never been an option for Chisholm Hunter, and therefore, they were proud to sponsor the Scottish Spina Bifida Association's 2009 corporate Burns Supper, in this, the 250th Anniversary year of Scotland's favourite poet and 150th Anniversary year of Chisholm Hunter.
To celebrate these special Scottish anniversaries, and the work of the Association, Chisholm Hunter's own in-house jewellery designer has created a bespoke cocktail ring, entitled Red Rose, as an exclusive fundraising gift for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association.
Inspired by Burns' poem Red, Red Rose, this unique and beautifully crafted ring is set with extremely rare Tsavorite (green Garnets) and pink Sapphires, then crowned with a fabulous round brilliant diamond, all in an 18ct gold setting which has been engraved "one of one", "RB 250 - CH 150", as well as being hallmarked by the Assay Office.
The rings exclusivity is expected to attract world-wide interest from ex-pats and Burns fans alike as the homecoming campaign receives international coverage. On-line confidential auction bids may be made throughout 2009 by emailing the fundraising team, culminating in a live auction at one of the UK's most prestigious auction houses at a date TBC. The money raised will be donated directly to the SSBA.
The Association are extremely grateful to Chisholm Hunter for their generosity.
Red Red Rose
Robert Burns - 1794
O my Luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie,
That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wil' the sun;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands O' life shall run.
And fare-thee-weel, my only Luve!
And fare-thee-weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' 'twere ten thousand mile!
