A new BBC Children In Need funded Project has now commenced staffed by our Services and Development Manager, our new Project Co-ordinator and six sessional workers.
The Project's aim is to make a difference to how young people with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus have fun and make friends as well as improving social interaction skills.
Who is the Project supporting? Young people aged 12 - 18 years old who have spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus and live in Lanarkshire and the surrounding areas.
How will the service be delivered? Trained sessional workers will work alongside young people on a regular basis, usually 6 hours per month, and provide practical support and encouragement aimed at reducing challenges faced by the young person when accessing social and leisure activities and making friends. The activities we hope to encourage will be led by the young people themselves but may include: cinema; sports; shopping trips; visiting attractions; library; local clubs etc.
What will it cost? Young people will only be asked to contribute towards any activity which exceeds £5.
