Why Should I Raise Funds for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association?

SSBA is the only registered charity with a Scotland wide remit to support children, young people and adults with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and allied conditions. SSBA receives less than 3% central government funding and relies entirely on donations and the goodwill of volunteers. SSBA has to raise nearly £50 an hour to continue to be able to give information, promote awareness, provide services and carry out research to ease the impact of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.

Remember!

  • SSBA has to raise over £450,000 every year to continue to provide information and support to service users
  • SSBA receives less than £10,000 in government funding
  • SSBA relies entirely on donations and the goodwill of volunteers
  • SSBA is a registered charity and over 3000 individuals and families benefit from our support.

What Difference Can I Make?

  • £20 would provide information and support for a new family
  • £50 would enable a member of staff to provide support at home or in hospital
  • £100 could pay for a family to attend one of the Association's Family Weekends
  • £500 could allow a Family Support Worker to help 5 families throughout Scotland
  • £2000 would buy 800 information packs
