The New Family Support Centre

On the 5th September 2005, the Association's Honorary Patron, Gordon Ramsay launched a Buy a Brick Appeal to raise £850k required to build a new Family Support Centre and Scottish Head Office in Cumbernauld, Glasgow.

The Centre was completed in April 2006 and on the 22nd November 2006 was officially opened by our Patron, Gordon Ramsay.

The new facility accommodates the Family Support Service and will allow the Association to expand it's support services to meet our users needs in the 21st century. As well as providing a relaxing environment for families to visit, it will provide training, recreational and support services and is also uniquely equipped with a Telemedicine suite. This will enable those with spina bifida and hydrocephalus to receive medical advice via video-conferencing equipment from health professionals based across the UK.

The Official Opening of The Dan Young Building

Gordon Ramsay flew in to Glasgow especially to open The Dan Young Building, the new Family Support Centre for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association. Gordon got to catch up with friends he made on his last visit and was given a surprise 40th birthday party with a specially made cake.

The day was very successful, with a media opening, a children�s party and a corporate function. Throughout the entire day over 400 people joined us to celebrate the official opening of our new building and once again we say a BIG thank you to all those who donated to the 'Buy-a-Brick' Appeal or who volunteered their time and efforts on the day.

The Gordon Ramsay Appeal.

To aid us in our fundraising efforts, Gordon Ramsay has once again launched a new appeal to help us reach our fundraising targets.

Although the Centre is complete, the Association is still reliant on fundraising. We require to raise over £450K every year to pay for the Family Support Service and the running costs of the new Centre. By raising this amount we can ensure that we can continue to support everyone who asks for help. We receive less than 3% (<£10K) statutory funding so fundraising is very important to us.

We would be absolutely delighted if you chose to support the Association and helped us with our ongoing fundraising challenge!
